Set up your OBS switcher.
LivCue turns your phone or tablet into a production switcher for OBS. Your device and OBS computer must be on the same local network. For setup help, contact us at info@livcue.com.
Connect to OBS
- Quit OBS, then download and run the signed, Apple-notarized LivCue for OBS installer on a Mac running macOS 13 or later. Use OBS Studio 32.2.2.
- Open OBS and choose Tools → LivCue. Allow local-network access when your computer or mobile device asks.
- Keep both devices on the same trusted local network. Guest Wi-Fi and networks that isolate devices can prevent discovery.
- Open the mobile app and choose the OBS computer. You can also use its QR code or enter the connection address manually.
No video or a dropped connection?
Confirm OBS is open, your sources are active, and both devices can reach each other. Wired networking for the OBS computer and a strong Wi-Fi signal for the mobile device can help. LivCue retries interrupted monitoring connections automatically.
Preview and the T-bar
Enable Studio Mode in OBS or in LivCue settings to work with Preview and Program. Single-tap a scene for Preview; double-tap to send it straight to Program.
Using NDI cameras or Direct NDI
For most setups, open Settings → Monitoring in LivCue and choose Through OBS (Recommended). Your OBS computer will send the video previews to your phone or tablet.
If you use NDI cameras, or choose Direct NDI in LivCue, install DistroAV and the NDI software on your OBS computer. The download links and steps are below.
- Install the NDI components. Close OBS, install DistroAV and NDI support, then reopen OBS. These are separate downloads from LivCue.
- Check your NDI cameras in OBS. Add an NDI Source to the scene, select the camera and confirm its picture appears. You can keep LivCue on Through OBS to monitor it. If that is your setup, you do not need the Direct NDI steps below.
- For Direct NDI, turn on the OBS outputs. Open Tools → DistroAV NDI Settings and enable Main and Preview. Turn on Studio Mode for Preview, and note the output names.
- Match the names in LivCue. In the app, choose Settings → Monitoring → Video routing → Direct NDI. Under Program & Preview, enter the exact DistroAV output names, then tap Save output names. Main is the Program feed.
With Direct NDI, cameras send their pictures directly to the app; Program, Preview and other OBS pictures also use NDI. Keep all devices on the same local network. If a view is missing, check the camera picture in OBS and confirm the output names match.
For installation help, see DistroAV’s official installation guide ↗.
